Robco Electric, Inc.- NV’s largest locally owned solar installation company – is seeking an experienced Solar Electrical Service Technician to repair (and occasionally install) residential and commercial photovoltaic arrays in Las Vegas, NV and surrounding areas. Must have knowledge and experience repairing and installing all types of solar setups including central inverters, central inverter with optimizers and microinverters. Knowledge of off grid configurations including batteries (lead acid and lithium ion) is a plus. This position is 90% service, but will occasionally require installation of add on modules or filling in a spot on a regular install crew.

Detailed Responsibilities

  • Diagnose PV systems issues, including non-operation, underperformance, communications/monitoring or electrical issues.
  • Repair, trouble shoot and test PV inverters, string boxes and solar panels.
  • Electrical wiring of solar array/system (AC and DC)
  • Perform voltage testing using appropriate PPE and procedures
  • Preventative Maintenance, including detailed notes, descriptions of issues and photos.
  • Mechanical/structural mounting of racking, modules and electrical equipment
  • Handle warranty repair and replacement.
  • Ensures that service commitments are met within expected response time.
  • Manages service vehicle inventory and restocks as necessary.
  • Completes required paperwork (time sheets, service orders, forms, inventory, expense reports, and equipment related items)
  • Maintain compliance to all PPE and safety regulations per OSHA

Qualifications

  • 3+ years electrical experience (Journeyman or better) with previous experience repairing solar arrays.
  • Ability to read and comprehend electrical and mechanical schematics, technical manuals, procedures and regulations
  • Familiarity with electrical plans and field layouts
  • PV System site inspection experience
  • Appropriate licensing to work as Journeyman or better electrician in the state of Nevada
  • Working knowledge of solar industry best practices, NEC requirements, and diagnosis/repair of common solar failures.
  • Ability to take detailed documentation and assessment of any/all task at hand
  • Current NV driver’s license
  • Current OSHA 10 card
  • PV Installer license for Nevada or another US state
  • Must have good prioritization, organization, analytical and planning skills
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Must be flexible, be able to adapt to new situations, have self-control and have high integrity
